FAQ
Short answers
See the related guide for details.
What is ÇASMER — is it the same as an OSGB?
ÇASMER is a worker health center authorized by the Ministry of Health; an OSGB is a Joint Health and Safety Unit authorized by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. The authorizing institution and scope of services differ (Framework Reg. Art.4, Art.17/7).
Can medical examinations be performed at the workplace?
Yes. Examinations may be performed at a fixed center or directly at the workplace with a licensed mobile occupational health vehicle; in both cases the same principles apply regarding devices, calibration and practitioner qualifications (OG 31725, Art.5).
Who evaluates examination results?
Examinations are administered by qualified medical examination staff; results are evaluated by the workplace physician. Where necessary, the relevant specialist physician provides the report.
Is health surveillance mandatory for employers?
Under Law No. 6331, the employer is obliged to ensure health surveillance of workers, assign OHS professionals and provide these services to workers free of charge (Framework Reg. Art.5-9).
